Statue ‘Incites Racial Hatred’

by Lurch on April 23, 2010

What a load of old shit.

Residents have complained to the town council about the statue of a black member of a singing barber quartet outside the Original Barber Shop Company on Market Place.

Interestingly the online editing dude has decreed that the complainants are fine to accuse the owner of racism (no worse crime to a Guardianista) but to accuse the complainants of being muesli munching Guardianista incomers (which they are) is beyond the pale.

The thought that this tacky piece of plastic would incite someone to rush out and batter the nearest ‘darkie’ is laughable, but not seemingly to the Guardianista who is sure in their own smug minds of the mental weakness of everyone else.

I love the whiny comment from a (white) woman: “The main issue is that this is a stereotype image and a caricature of a black slave with exaggerated features. ” Excuse me? I don’t think too many slaves performed in barber shop choirs!

Does that mean all those statues of Nelson Mandela can be torn down now?
